Haa Valley and Chele La: Bhutan’s Hidden Valley

Haa Valley and Chele La: Bhutan’s Hidden Valley

Haa Valley is one of the most picturesque valleys in the country. The isolated valley lies behind the mountain ridge of Chele La and borders the Chumbi Valley of Tibet on one side.

Crossing Chele La

The drive from Paro to Haa is about 60 km (2 hours) and crosses Chele La pass at around 4,000 m, the highest motorable road in Bhutan. On a clear day you can see the Himalayas, including Mount Jomolhari.

A small, unspoilt district

Haa is one of the 20 dzongkhags (districts) of Bhutan and one of the smallest. Spread across roughly 1,706 sq km, this verdant, quaint and remote valley will leave you speechless with its beauty.

Visit Haa on the Discover Bhutan Tour or time your trip for the Haa Summer Festival.
